MFA Thesis Project

I'm slowly uploading a virtual copy of my CalArts MFA thesis project: a 210 page still video narrative that documents my discovery and walk within a fallow plot of ground in Los Angeles.

Archiving is a slow process with years long breaks.

Note:
The piece reads contrary to most blogs. The narrative begins on this front page and moves in sequence backward to older posts. Of course, you can begin or end anywhere you like or just hop around from page to page as if you were reading it in an actual gallery space.

loss (descent)

20071129

a loss is a loss

20071128

and one loss leads to another

20071126

imagined or not

20071125

you and I set up a place in our heads for something we could never hold

20071124

the question of whether it ever truly existed is irrelevant

20071122

20071120

you wanted to teach it to play classical guitar

20071119

you pulled the instrument down from its storage place in preparation

20071118

I sat in front of you and sketched your face on my body

20071117

20071116

you practiced guitar

20071115

I listened

20071114

20071112

you played the same soothing dissonance you played when your father died

20071111

20071110

there was no ceremony when your father died only music

20071109

you simply sifted the bones from the ashes
brought them home in a box and went back to your guitar
